OUR MUTUAL EXPECTATIONS
As much as we are a people chosen by our heritage, we are a people blessed with the freedom to chose. The choice to belong, be it out of “need” or “wish,” is often unpredictable and shifting, but Sinai’s mission and reason for being cannot be either. Therefore, while we treasure our open-door policy at each holy day and festival as well as for offerings for study and opportunities for service, we also value a sensitive, sensible, and transparent understanding of the financial needs of the congregation, as a whole.
We truly respect the differing financial capabilities of our diverse membership. At the same time, we expect each of our members to take to heart the financial needs of our congregation. To this end, we have adopted fair-share guidelines to be honored in agreements reached between each member and our Finance Committee. Not only do we want to keep our doors “open,” we want to sustain a vibrant and caring community.
